Drawing Classes
These
drawing classes are recommended for all skill levels. Particularly useful is the
analysis and one-on-one interaction between the student and the instructor.
Learn about contour line drawing, positive and negative space, tonal values
and shading. Learn to SEE what you are drawing and understand your
personal tendencies that may impair your abilities. Students are coached on
becoming objective about their subject matter and are taught at their own pace. |

Private Lessons
If you are interested in a class time
that you do not see above, please email me. I am always adding
classes. I also offer private lessons. There is a two (2) hour, four
(4) week minimum. So, email or call me to inquire.
During our time together, you’ll learn to SEE what you are drawing and
develop the tools that you’ll use to identify and understand your personal
tendencies, biases and perhaps even fears, that could impair your abilities.
Every
student will be coached on their ability to be objective about subject matter
and so much more.
Exercises of
contour line drawing, positive and negative space, tonal values and shading
alongside instruction of the perception of tonal edges, relationships and
references and the whole are all part of this six week, twelve hour session.
If you can
only take one class this semester, this is the one you don’t want to miss. Don’t
take our word for it. Here is what previous participants of all ages and skill
level had to say:
-
"Kathy, I see that all of these comments are
about your exquisite artwork, so let me add something here about your teaching.
Everyone, I took a 10-week class in which Kathy led us through very interesting
exercises in seeing, and suddenly, to my great surprise, I can draw!
I can't tell you enough what an excellent teacher she is. With each
exercise a mystery was solved, and gradually the impossible became possible.
She is full of encouragement, and at the same time steers you right when you go
wrong. She is also very skillful in helping you develop your own
style. The 10-week course is over, but I'm continuing to study with her,
and so far she's been able to help me with each problem I've run into. She
is warm, respectful, and intelligent--knows what she's doing. It has been
extremely rewarding working with her. I'm an artist now, thanks to her."
