Commissioned Art Work and Portraits by Kathy B. Love

I like to meet the subject in the convenience of their home or familiar surroundings so that they are completely comfortable. If the portrait will be of yourself, a child, or pet, your own surroundings provide lasting sentiment to the portrait.

The portrait will either be done from sittings and/or photos. Photos will be taken, developed and viewed by you and me to select the ideal arrangement, as well as to discuss the size of the composition. I will also make life studies at this time for my reference.

You may also already have a favorite photo that you would like made into a portrait.  You may mail or email the photo to me for review. The resolution of the photo should be good enough to clearly see the features of the subject, since what I see is what I draw.  If I find that the photo is not acceptable, you will be notified.

Once a composition has been decided upon, I will prepare a preliminary sketch for your approval. On completion of the final portrait, it will be shown to you for your complete approval. Upon acceptance, delivery arrangements will be made.

Portraits are executed from live sittings and/or photographs or both. Pricing is based on the final size and detail of the portrait.  Travel, lodging,  shipping is extra.

Payment Terms: A deposit of 1/2 is due with the signed contract. The balance is due on delivery of finished work.

100% satisfaction is guaranteed!

"Gabe" was created from a photo shoot. This little boy could not take a bad picture if he tried.

A friend of mine's grandbaby. I had a lot of fun doing this portrait. I integrated a hint of color to create warmth.

One of the things that I try to teach my art students is to disassociate themselves from the subject matter.

I drew this award winning picture with my canvas and reference photo upside-down.

I think the necklace was the most intriguing of this picture. So I paid particular attention to the reflections being cast.

This portrait done in 2001 was my first step back to my passion... art.

I had not asked the permission of my friend to draw her child, so I did not know how it would be received. When I showed it to her, with a tear in her eye, she told me I had given her a very special gift. What she did not know, was that with her words, she had given me a very special gift in return.

This photo shoot was fun. We rolled in the grass and played with his pig.

This shot I caught at a friends birthday party. Although the colors were so brilliant, I was compelled to do it in black and white. I used a warm charcoal on white paper to capture the warmth of this boys features.

My niece playing a board game, not knowing I was snapping pictures. The texture in the portrait comes from the heavy watercolor paper I used. I took some eighty shots during this photo shoot. This beautiful lady decided on several pictures, including this one. Although the picture is blurred, I was very drawn to it. So, I drew the blurred image blurred, and put it behind a filmy window pane.
